Virtual CBT Workshop for Pregnant or Postpartum/Post-Adoptive Women with Anxiety


Cognitive behavioral therapy has been identifed as the preferred evidence based treatment for mild to moderate anxiety. This eight-week group is designed specifically for pregnant or postpartum/post-adopive women experiencing anxiety. This group is a mix of exercises and skills with objectives to complete/practice between sessions. 


This group will run virtually on Fridays for 65 minutes from October 2-November 20, 2020 from 12:45-1:50pm.

Community Birth Loss Support Group

Description & Schedule:

The UMass Memorial Community Birth Loss Support Group provides emotional support to parents who have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. This support group also:



  • Assists parents in understanding the grieving process and fosters emotional insight into coping with the loss of their child

  • Creates a safe, supportive forum in which parents can share their thoughts and feelings with others who have had a similar experience

  • Provides acceptance and creates a framework within which parents can integrate their loss and learn that there is hope, and there is a future


This group is open to all, no matter where you live or where your baby was delivered.


The group is held at Notre Dame Health Care in Worcester, and is located in the du Lac Assisted Living Program. Parking is free and participants are asked to check in with the receptionist located in the main lobby.


When: Third Thursday of each month, 6 to 7:30 pm

Coping with stress and emotions during pregnancy

Coping with stress and emotions during pregnancy

Time of Group: Virtual (over Zoom) Thursdays 4:00-5:15pm


Age range of members:  18+, any women within the 1st or 2nd trimester of pregnancy (so the patient can complete the 8-week program prior to giving birth)  


Type of therapy: Integrated mindfulness skills, CBT, and process 


Group Specifics: This group is for women who are pregnant and experiencing difficulty coping with stress and/or mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety or depression. The group will last 8-weeks and will utilize the Stress Management and Resiliency Training Program (SMART), an evidence-based multi-modal mind body medicine group developed at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Discussions will focus on applying the skills in the program to the context of pregnancy and preparing for the postpartum, including stressors in the context of COVID-19. Participants will be expected to purchase the $50 SMART manual for participation in the group.

Description & Schedule:

New Mom Group: Scheduled to run from 11/27/2020 through 02/19/2021 (Total 12 sessions). For new moms 4-6 weeks postpartum looking to connect with other new mothers. Group will meet virtually through Zoom on Fridays at 12:00 for 60 minutes. Ages 22 and up. 


 


Pregnant and 40+: Scheduled to run from 12/10/2020 until 02/11/2021 (Total 9 sessions). For women who are over the age and 40 and pregnant in their second or third trimester. Group will meet virtually through Zoom on Thursdays at 4:00 PM for 90 minutes. 


 


Teen Mom: Scheduled to begin 01/06/2021 and is open-ended. Age range 14 through 20 years old, postpartum or antepartum. Scheduled to be held on Wednesdays at 2:30 PM for 90 minutes.

This resource comes from a hope to connect LGBTQ+ expecting parents and their loved ones in community. Preparing for birth in community workshops is an beautiful way to navigate the system of healthcare, learn to advocate for your family’s individual needs and find some necessary camaraderie through your family building process.


Monthly LGBTQ Pregnancy Group

Open to LGBTQ+ pregnant people and their partners. Every first Saturday of the month at 1-2:30 pm EST. This group is free with a donation option to support queer/trans perinatal workers. Register to get zoom info. Next meeting: October 3rd


Trans and Gestating Group

LGBTQ Reproductive Loss Group: 

October 7, 2020 – November 18, 2020 (6 sessions + One possible makeup session) Wednesday evenings 8-9:30 pm EST

For LGBTQ+ people who have experienced a reproductive loss (broadly defined (broadly defined including losses related to fertility, pregnancy loss, abortion, stillbirth, infant death, adoption disruption). 

This group is offered on a sliding scale of $5-15 per week ($30-90 total), no one turned away due to lack of funds. Registration page and more info.


Monthly LGBTQ New Parents Group:

Bring your infant and meet other new mothers!


Groups for first-time moms with babies up to 6 months. This is a 6-week closed group. 


Each group meets with a professional facilitator and provides a wonderful opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, make new friends, and get some support. Discuss developmental issues, expectations of oneself as a new mom, changing relationships with family members, child care options, and much more.

Our online Birth Mom Support Group provides a connection for birth moms/first moms who place a baby for adoption. This group is intended for women who are considering adoption, have placed a child for adoption, or have had a child placed for adoption. Whether your child was born recently or years ago you are welcome to join us for peer support. Led by PSI trained facilitators, this group helps birth mothers find support, provides useful information and resources to help them navigate the pain of their loss. Led by PSI trained facilitators, this group helps bereaved mothers find support as well as provides useful information and resources to help them navigate the pain of their loss. Losing a baby can be a lonely experience and this group helps provide an avenue for healing and hope. We are here to help.
